ESI VIP Software Appications
Not to be confused with VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol), VIP (Visually Integrated Phone) is ESI's suite of software applications designed to provided Computer-Telephony Integration (CTI) capabilities for ESI users. VIP, which integrates with (and requires) Microsoft Outlook, comes in several different versions: VIP Basic, VIP Professional. VIP ACD Agent, VIP ACD Supervisor, VIP PC Attendant and VIP Softphone.
VIP Basic
VIP Basic provides advanced call and message handling capabilities for users of ESI 48-key phones. VIP integrates with Microsoft Outlook, which is required for its use. Key features include:
unified messaging - voice mails appear and can be managed through email inbox
conversion of voice mails to WAV files - allows voice mails to be transferred or stored electronically
point-and-click call handling through a pop-up call control window on the user's PC
TAPI integration - call contacts directly from MS Outlook contact list (or other TAPI-compatible software)
simplified station programming - point-and-click phone settings and drag-and-drop button programming
station call logging - historical list of inbound and outbound calls
VIP Professional
VIP Professional has all of the same capabilities of VIP Basic but takes it one big step further by adding text messaging capability for VIP Professional users. This can provide significant advantages for internal call management in offices or locations with high call volumes.
users on the phone can be notified by text message when they have another call or issue to address - elminate the need for distracting 'barge-in' or 'whisper' features
Quick Reply buttons allow uses to respond to text messages with pre-set phrases such as "Take Message" or "You Handle"
text messaging is only available to VIP Pro users - reduces the likelihood of text messaging being used for non-business purposes
VIP ACD Agent
VIP ACD Agent is designed to further enhance the ESI Communication Servers' ACD (call queuing) feature. VIP ACD Agent users get all the benefits of VIP Professional (see above) plus the ability to view the login and activity status of other agents assigned to their particular ACD group. This combination of real time agent status display, point-and-click call handling, and text messaging between agents allows for effective and efficient call handling.
VIP ACD Supervisor
VIP ACD Supervisor is intended for use by a manager, supervisor owner to monitor in real time the status of one or more ACD (call queue) groups. This software includes all of the benefits of VIP Professional plus:
real time display of ACD agent status (logged in, oncall, idle, etc.)
real time ACD queue status and statistics (number of calls in queue, wait time, etc.)
database capture and historical reporting of summary and detailed call statistics
VIP PC Attendant
VIP PC Attendant is designed for phone attendants or receptionists who are tasked with handling an organization's inbound calls. It turns the attendant's PC into a tool for answering inbound calls, for transferring calls to other stations or mailboxes, and for monitoring the status of calls placed on hold. Features include:
all VIP Professional features
real time view of all incoming calls
real time view of all calls currently on hold, including Caller ID information
drag-and-drop transfer and retrieval of calls
VIP Softphone
TheVIP Softphone is a PC-based virtual phone that provides the functionality of a desktop ESI IP Feature Phone. It is particularly useful for road warriors who can benefit from office phone connectivity from remote locations, such as hotel rooms and wireless hotspots. The VIP Softphone includes:
all VIP Professional features
local (LAN) or remote (Internet) connectivity
zero footprint - runs on Windows XP or Vista-based PC or laptop

ESI Bluetooth Voice Integration
With the increasing popularity of Bluetooth cellular devices, ESI has worked to develop two products that will combine the mobility of Bluetooth technology with the power of the ESI Communications Servers.
ESI Cellular Management
Taking business calls on your cell phone while in the office just got easier. ESI's compact Access Device directs incoming cellular calls to your ESI phone. These cell calls are handled just like any other call coming in on your ESI Communications Server land lines, allowing you to take advantage of the features of your office phone system. Here are a few ways this can help:
place and receive your cell calls on an ESI 48-key phone
route unanswered calls to ESI's voice mail system or leave them on the cellular carrier's voice mail - the choice is yours
route incomng cellular calls to a department or group mailbox
access your cell phone's voice dialing feature directly from your desk phone
share access to your cell phone minutes with others in your office
transfer cell calls from your desk phone to your cellular phone so you can continue a conversation even as you leave the office
ESI Bluetooth Headset Interface
This technology provides the capability to 'pair' a Bluetooth headset with your ESI 48-key phone, allowing you to answer and terminate calls directly from your headset. This eliminates the need for costly add-on devices (such as handset-lifters) that are required to provide the same functionality with traditional headsets.
